At the heart of McCook lies a vibrant and inclusive community where creativity flourishes in every corner, making us the creative hot spot for everyone. Here, art, culture, and innovation are not just celebrated but actively nurtured, welcoming people of all ages, backgrounds, and talents to contribute to the dynamic tapestry of our town. Our doors are open to artists, visionaries, and dreamers alike, each finding a place where their ideas can take root and grow.
Whether it's through collaborative projects, inspiring events, or simply sharing stories under our vast starry skies, McCook offers a space where creativity knows no bounds and everyone is invited to be a part of something truly special. We believe in the power of imagination and the strength of community, and we are dedicated to fostering an environment where all can thrive, creating a legacy that is as diverse as it is enduring.

For more events, both in and out of the Creative District, visit the McCook Chamber of Commerce calendar. Don't miss yearly events such as Heritage Days, Noel on Norris, and Bash on the Bricks along with art museum openings, art classes, plays, and concerts!
The arts nurture the soul, and our community is brimming with talented, creative individuals eager to make the most of our Creative District Designation. Whether it's honoring our past and celebrating our future through poetry at the
Buffalo Commons Storytelling and Music Festival or bringing characters to life on the
McCook Mural, McCook and Southwest Nebraska take pride in our independence and the contributions we make to culture and civilization.
The McCook Creative District is proudly part of the McCook Arts Council who offers guidance and serves as the fiduciary agent for the district.
The
McCook Arts Council financially supports, coordinates and promotes the visual and performing arts in McCook, Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas. They’re behind grants that fuel a wide range of art and cultural events in the community, from summer art programs to the McCook Mural Project. MAC meets every second Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m., and grants are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. To apply, simply submit
your application, project outline, and budget by the first of the month.
